Pride Month: A Short Message to the LGBT Community

With the excitement that has surrounded the LGBT community thanks to Pride Month, there is much celebrating to do. Unfortunately, Pride month is nearing its end. All good things do eventually come to an end, but that doesn’t mean you cannot live the life you so wish to live. This is not the end of your celebration of life itself.

Every day you wake up is an opportunity to make a difference in your life and in the lives of others in the LGBT community. Every day is a way to accomplish something worth taking pride in. It doesn’t matter who you are. Accomplishment is something no one can take from you. So whatever it is you wish to do, you must be brave and do your best to accomplish that task.

Every member of the LGBT must lead by example so that you may all come together to stand against any and all bigotry that threatens your livelihood. It is your obligation in life to live well. It is your obligation to strive to do your best to accomplish the goals you have set forth in your life. If you have no goal, you have no purpose. A man or woman with no purpose lives a life without meaning. If you cannot find purpose, create one.

The LGBT individual is much like the average joe in the sense that he or she must learn to strive for accomplishment in life or you will live a hollow life. Whatever your beliefs are, you should also learn to be willing to defend them and defend yourself. There may be hate crime legislation in this country, but when has any law EVER stopped a killer from killing or a thief from stealing? Either get your concealed carry permit and learn to use firearms or take martial arts and take them seriously. No matter what your gender identity is, in reality, no one gives a shit about you. No one gives a shit about you unless that person can get something from you. This is just human nature. Accept that and always look after yourself. Self-reliance goes a long way.

Lastly, I want the LGBT to remember that although this is Pride Month, there is no limit to your pride. You wake up LGBT every single day. It doesn’t end at the end of the month. Every day is Pride day. Don’t quit living life. It’s too short to let anyone destroy you or determine the direction in which you take your life. Your destiny is in your hands if you’re willing to pay the price to live out the path to your dreams. May your god of choice bless you and may your daydreams manifest.
