Are there any solutions to today’s problems? Has man finally reached a point where there is no wisdom to be shared? Is there nothing that can be passed down from father to son or mother to daughter? In a society where it seems that anything goes, one can only assume that humanity is on a steady decline. Civilization appears as if it were heading backwards in terms of standards and behavior. What is the cause of this? Are there any clear answers? Is there anyone that can lead humanity out of this modern dark age?

Republicans and Democrats consistently fight one another for power. Our current political system seems more willing to point out each other’s flaws than to reach a sense of unity for the sake of their citizens. The media and Hollywood endorse lifestyle choices that less than 10 years ago would’ve been considered degenerate or harmful to a person’s well being. Phrases like “healthy in any size” and “Hierarchy, not hypocrisy” have become far too common in advertising and debate. When one looks around, they realize that there are few, if any, people worth looking up to for wisdom. Modern society seems to be a place where no one is worth following.

“Great leaders are willing to sacrifice the numbers to save the people. Poor leaders sacrifice the people to save the numbers.”

Simon Sinek

For the better part of all human history, wisdom has been passed from parent to child, student to teacher, or elders to tribe. Numerous guides on principles, ethics, and codes of conduct were passed down either through writing or daily practice. Passing down wisdom is a part of the process of life which is essentially reproduction. Every living organism whose traits and wisdom have been passed down aim for the purpose of self-replication. This replication of wisdom and tradition is the primary reason that generations have enjoyed things we take for granted such as freedom of expression, technological advancement, and a higher standard of living compared to past generations.

It is partly the fault of the generation known as the Baby Boomers as to why so many Americans seem so intellectually lost. To simply place all the blame on this specific demographic would be nothing short of scapegoating, but their actions were a catalyst for we live in a generation without much wisdom or prosperity. They were the descendants of the World War 2 veterans. The boomers were given a a leg up for the hard work of previous generations. Unfortunately, instead of passing down wealth and wisdom to future generations, they decided to hoard everything for themselves. The boomers never passed down wisdom and kept the prosperity for themselves even at the cost of their descendants. You see this even now as they continue to hoard political power since almost every single president save for a few have all come from the Baby Boomer generation.

All this generation has taught anyone was to gain and keep wealth no matter who was hurt as a result. The decay or morals, religion, and knowledge due to this insatiable greed has been the only thing passed down the generations. This is why we see things as they are today. There are droplets of wisdom and guidance here and there, but it is unfortunately becoming harder to acquire in the age of censorship. One cannot “trust the experts” when they have been caught red-handed repeatedly lying to us. Dcotors and scientists are lying for the most part. Your parents, teachers, modern religious leaders, and politicians all are lying to you. Who can one trust when the blind are leading the blind?

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them – that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”

Lao Tzu

Whether we like it or not, we will have to become the leaders of tomorrow. The GenExers, Millenials, and maybe even Generation Z have little options but to forge our own paths. Not everyone is capable of being a leader of other men. If we had nothing but leaders, no one would follow through with any plans. For those who cannot be leaders of men, the least one can do in these troubled times is be leaders of self. No one is here to save you. In fact, many are here to do harm upon you from what one can see since every mainstream outlet wants you to be less healthy and aware of reality.

It is up to us to now forge our own path and gain wisdom from education and experience. Previous generations have abandoned modern man to ruin for their own greed. You are on your own. Most won’t make it, but perhaps you can if you can find your way around life’s trials.
